Understanding Alignment

In order to create true “alignment” we have to have the same understanding for the verbiage of the word “alignment”. This is the not in regard to the actual vertebrae and the positioning of them. In the sense I am speaking about is where the diaphragm and the pelvic floor maintain a stacked orientation (see diagram to right). When you create proper intra-abdominal pressure, you generate cylinder that is anatomically the strongest situation you can achieve for maximal low back stabilization. This also depends on the mobility of your hips and thoracic spine so compensatory movement doesn’t have to happen at the lumbar spine. Always make sure to assess those areas and start generating the proper strategies to help all of the above to protect your lumbar spine.
